Gulfstream G650 Resumes Tests

Gulfstream G650 will now resume its flight tests after having suffered setbacks as a result of an accident on April 2. The accident resulted in a suspension that prevent further development of the aircraft. The suspension has been lifted just recently. The first test flight after the suspension was on May 28th which lasted almost 2 hours. The newly-resumed test flight of the Gulfstream G650 was piloted by Jake Howard and Tom Horne as well as Biss Osborne as flight engineer.

Including the aforementioned latest test flight, the Gulfstream G650 test fleet have accumulated a total of 1,560 flying hours from 470 flights. This will count towards the 2,200 hours required if the plane is to be officially certified. Having lost one to the fatal accident, there are still four Gulfstream G650 available for further testing. When launched in 2008, the company aimed to have the aircraft certified in 2011 and in service by 2012.

Pertaining the accident, Gulfstream is fully cooperating with The National Safety Board (NTSB) in their investigation.
